Baghdad battery

As soon as we say a battery, we think of the dry cell. The first battery is a simple cell. But the voltage generated by both of these is very small. But it's coming a little bit 😁 (the current)

People thought (still some people are not aware of this) that no one had ever made any electric cell before that. That said, before that, the lights were lit only in the bedrooms and at night. (in Lanka)😎 But many people doubted whether it was the same. Because the places where light was used without even a torch were left as a mystery. Just like that Dandera. (The next pyramid is the same)

Let's not talk about large-scale power plants. So let's look at Baghdad.

It is understood where the Baghdad battery was found.. that is, from Iraq. It was discovered in 1938 by a German archaeologist. Its outer covering is made of clay. That's why it looks like a small clay ornament. But what happened inside is very absurd.

The total height of this Gajamatic is 130 mm. Not even half a foot. A clay cover has been made in the shape of a keel to the whole height. And the cover is 75 mm wide (diameter). Also, the two types of metal are used for the internal parts. Copper and iron.

If you look inside this clay cover, there is a hollow cylinder made of copper about three times the height of the cell from the top end. It is made by rolling a copper plate. Also, this hollow cylinder has a top made of copper so that it is passively closed. Its diameter is 25 mm. There are iron rods inside. The upper end of this cell has emerged from the clay cover. Then the above parts of the iron rod as well as the lower corners of the copper cylinder are covered with tar.

Iron rod + tip/cathode and copper cylinder tip - tip/anode have worked. )

It is between this copper cylinder and the iron rod that the cell's electrophoresis is present. An air tube has been inserted into that solution. (It is designed to release the gas produced in it.. Since the electrolyte of the simple cell is open to the outside atmosphere, the hydrogen gas produced easily escapes) Scientists say that this electrolytic solution can almost be vinegar. The reason for that is that vinegar is the acid that we can easily make at home. Vinegar is the diluted nature (natural form) of CH3COOH or acetic acid. That said, this is also a dilute acid.

What is the importance of this dilute acid? One: This can be done easily. If you want, you can make vinegar at home in two weeks. Meera or Telijja (any coconut water can be used) can be made in two steps through ethyl alcohol. (Don't stop at the first step and drink the frogπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) That means it can be made on a large scale. (Suddenly if thousands of these cells are used)

The other thing is that since this is dilute, H+ ions can be formed in the solution. (A 100% concentrated acid has no free H+ ions / electrons, so it cannot be an electrolyte.) Then there are two free ions in this solution, to transport electrons. H+ as well as acetic acid (CH3COO-), as + and - ions. (Also, a side effect of this is non-existent hydrogen gas)

But one problem with this is that acetic acid is a weak acid. That means that all the H+ ions will not be released into the solution. This H+ concentration is determined with a balance. But considering the time when this Baghdad battery was built, this is not a problem to be reckoned with.

The other thing is that this is a primitive and quickly decaying cell. But don't forget that tens of years later, Alexandro Volta created a simple cell that also belongs to the primitive cell type, which decays even faster. (Primary cells are cells that cannot be recharged)

As expected, the potential generated by this cell is one volt. Don't say this is less. Because if these 12 batteries are connected in series, you can make a potential gap as much as a car battery. At that time, people who had enough knowledge of chemistry to make a cell like this would not have been able to classify it.

Not only that, there are reports in some places that several more such Baghdad cells were found.

Also, the details about the carbon dating report are a bit confusing. Although it is found in most places it is 2000 years old, there are also stories that this is 30000 years old. Maybe soon we will find a bulb that fits this Baghdad battery. Because this cannot be made for people to watch the current.

(Let's just look at the photo of the Baghdad battery set with the Dandera temple and tell us what we think)
